On October 14, the Shenzhen Contest, also the last contest of the 2021 Global Marine Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Forum, was successfully held. Twelve high-quality projects attended the contest, including the “Portable Waters Intelligent Unmanned Equipment” Project, the “New Energy Permanent Magnet Ship Drive System” Project, the “FacePro - 5G+AR Contactless Remote Ship Inspection System” Project, and the “Viking Wisdom Ocean Internet Based on Beidou Navigation” Project. A panel consisting of seven senior industry experts and front-line investors selected the best projects for the final.


The relevant leaders from the Association for Science and Technology of Qingdao West Coast New Area, the Qingdao West Coast New Area Marine Development Bureau, as well as the Talent Recruitment Center, Expo Development Promotion Center, and Talent Group of Qingdao West Coast New Area attended the event. They actively negotiated with the contestants, deeply understood the conditions and talent structure of each project, and emphatically introduced the marine industries and talent policies of Qingdao West Coast New Area, in hope of reaching cooperation with the excellent projects.

At present, Qingdao West Coast New Area is implementing the marine strategy to build a strategic fulcrum of a marine power. The gross marine product in the “13th Five-Year Plan” Period reached an average annual growth rate of 14.4%, accounting for over 37% of the total GDP. It will further break through the marine industry and construct a modern marine industrial system supported by six industrial clusters, such as marine engineering equipment and marine biomedicine; furthermore, it will focus on key links, import core elements, and improve the high-quality development indicator system, so as to promote the double growth of the six marine industries in three years.


Since the launch of the Marine Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest in May, more than 150 innovation and entrepreneurship projects have signed up, covering the fields such as marine equipment and biomedicine. At this time, the qualification contests for the 2021 Global Marine Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Contest of the East Asia Marine Cooperation Platform Qingdao Forum have been completed.
